Window Configurations
The following are common window configurations that, in most cases, may be combined to create larger units necessary for larger wall openings. Custom options as arches and segment tops are also available.
con1 Picture:
Non-operable window, excellent choice for maximizing light penetration and view. May be combined with operable windows if ventilation is desirable. Without the need for hardware or a screen, this is usually the least expensive window option and provides the maximum energy efficiency.
con2 Single or Double-Hung:
For homes with traditional appearance. Allow for ventilation using only half of the total frame size of the window. Only bottom sash operable in a Single-Hung configuration while Double-Hung allow for both top and bottom sashes to open. Screen is positioned on the exterior side.
con3 Casement:
Hinged on the Left or Right side, Casements provide for maximum ventilation using the full area of the window frame and an open sash that may act as a flap to funnel breezes into the house. Casements usually provide maximum energy efficiency among operable windows as well as the best security. Screens are positioned on the interior side.
con4 Awning:
Hinged on the top and swing outward, awnings allow for ventilation even during rainy weather. Awning provide for maximum ventilation using the full area of the window frame. Awnings usually provide maximum energy efficiency among operable windows as well as the best security. Screens are positioned on the interior side.
con6 Slider:
Preferred choice for many home owners because of durability, ease of operation and low maintenance costs (no springs, crank openers, etc.). Allow for ventilation using only half of the total frame size of the window. Screen is positioned on the exterior side.
con5 Hopper:
This is an inverted version of the awning since the hinges are located on the bottom. Screens are positioned on the interior side.
